So you've just bought an electric vehicle — or you're about to.

Someone mentioned the iCharge app, and now you're wondering: what doesit actually do, and do I really need it? Short answer: yes.

Here's everything a first-timer needs to know.

What Is the iCharge App?

iCharge is an EV charging platform built for drivers inAlbania and across Europe. The app is your all-in-one tool to find chargers, start and stop charging sessions, manage your balance, and track your usage —all from your phone.

Think of it like a digital key to a growing network of public charging stations.

Step 1: Download & Create Your Account

Getting started takes less than two minutes.

  • Download the iCharge app from the App Store or Google Play
  • Create a free account with your email
  • Add a payment method or top up your iCharge Driver Balance (a prepaid wallet)

Tip: Topping up your Driver Balance in advance means you can start charging instantly — no fumbling with cards at the station.

Step 2: Find a Charging Station Near You

Once you open the app, the map loads automatically and shows nearby iCharge stations.

You can filter by:

  • Connector type (Type 2, CCS 2, CHAdeMO, GBT, NACS)
  • Charging power (AC slow / DC fast)
  • Real-time availability (Available, In Use, Out of Service)

Can't find a station near you? Use the search bar to look up a specific address or station name. You can also use the iCharge Live Map directly from a browser.

Step 3: Plug In & Start Charging

This is the part that surprises most first-timers — it really is this simple:

  • Pull up to the station and select the right connector for your car
  • Remove the connector from the holder and plug it into your vehicle's charging     port (listen for the click — that means it's locked in)
  • Open the app, select the station, and tap "Begin Charging"
  • That's it. The session starts immediately.

The app shows you live session data: how much energy has been delivered, session duration, and estimated cost.

No app on hand? If you have an iCharge RFID card, simply tap it on the charger to start and stop your session instead.

Step 4: Stop the Session & Unplug

When you're ready to go:

  1. Tap "Finish Charging" in the app (or on the charger screen)
  2. Unplug the connector and return it to its holder
  3. A full session receipt will appear in the app automatically

No need to call anyone or wait for confirmation. Everything is instant.

Step 5: Track Your Usage & Manage Your Balance

The iCharge app isn't just for starting charges — it's a mini control center for your EV life.

From the app you can:

  • View your full charging history and receipts
  • Monitor your Driver Balance in real time
  • Top up funds and transfer balance when needed
  • Track energy used per session

This is especially useful for businesses and fleet managerswho need to keep tabs on multiple vehicles at once.
